2012 Doomsday

The 2012 Doomsday phenomenon was a widespread belief that the world was going to end in 2012, specifically 21 December. The belief was loosely founded upon the ancient Maya people, but heavily influenced by pseudoarchaeologists who pushed the idea further.

Today, the Maya inhabit Mexico and Central America, specifically: Yucatan, Quintana Roo, Campeche, Tabasco, and Chiapas in Mexico as well as in Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, and Honduras.[1]
